GETTING STARTED

The purpose of my blog is to examine changes:  in culture, politics, art, music, and my life.  This is the place where I am going to try on new ideas, check myself out in the mirror and decide whether to buy into the new me.  I hope that I will make good choices and keep most of what I buy but I recognize that there will be some bad hat days.  I just hope the hats never cover my mind to new ideas and concepts or that they never blind me to new opportunities and challenges. 

I am also going to blog about my experiences designing my own knitware.  This is a scary step for me.  I am adept at executing other people’s patterns but I want to branch out and try to express my own creativity.  Like most people I worry about making mistakes and wasting time and money.  But I realize that I am already wasting time and money working on projects that don’t inspire me.  Making mistakes?  Well, I already know that valuable technique:  frogging.   So if I can tear apart other peoples’ projects when I mess them up, why can’t I tear up my own projects?  I might even get some funny stories out of the whole process (after I get finished fussing and muttering about unknitting).

Finally, I want to explore poetry, writing, photography and videography by posting my own works to this site.  Just for fun, you know.  Not expecting critical acclaim.  I have been feeling a need to express something from inside myself.  I am not sure what it will be but I am sure looking forward to the journey.   I am hoping that some friends will join me on this journey and share their insights and stories with me so that we can all show off our new hats.
